Magnetic Participle Inspection
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) – Fast & Reliable Weld Inspection
Welds and ferromagnetic components often face hidden cracks and surface defects that can quickly escalate into safety hazards, downtime, or rejected certifications. Spotting these early is critical—but standard visual checks aren’t enough.
That’s where Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) comes in.
How it Works :
We apply a thin layer of white contrast paint and magnetize the material using a hand-held magnet (yoke). A magnetic particle fluid is then sprayed across the surface. If cracks or discontinuities are present, they disturb the magnetic field and attract the particles, forming a clear, visible indication of the defect.
Advantages of MT
-
✅ Quick and relatively easy to perform
-
✅ Suitable for complex shapes and welds
-
✅ Provides immediate, visual results
Limitations to Consider
-
❌ Only applicable to ferromagnetic materials
-
❌ Detects only surface and very shallow defects (up to ~3 mm deep)
-
❌ Defect orientation relative to the magnetic field can affect accuracy
Why Choose HTT for MT?
Our certified inspectors combine advanced testing methods with practical expertise, ensuring reliable detection even on difficult geometries. After testing, you receive a detailed approval or rejection report, giving you certainty about the condition of your equipment and compliance with safety standards.
