Hoisting Belts & Round Slings

Hoisting Belts & Round Slings – Inspection & Certification

Hoisting belts and round slings are lightweight, flexible, and safe tools for lifting loads. They protect the load, are easy to handle, and are widely used in construction, industry, logistics, offshore, and ports.

But because they’re made of polyester, they are vulnerable to cuts, wear, chemical damage, and UV exposure. If unnoticed, this can lead to:

  • 🚫 Lifting accidents due to tearing

  • 🚫 Injuries and equipment damage

  • 🚫 Non-compliance with the Health & Safety Act and EN standards

That’s why periodic inspection and certification are legally required.

Purpose of Inspection :

  • βœ… Prevent lifting accidents from worn or damaged slings

  • βœ… Guarantee the safety of employees and equipment

  • βœ… Ensure compliance with EN 1492-1 / EN 1492-2 and other regulations

Types of Inspections :

1. Visual Inspection (by user, before every use)

  • Cuts, tears, discoloration, contamination

  • Damaged or missing labels (WLL, length, manufacturer)

  • Hardware (hooks, D-rings, eyelets) for wear or bending

2. Periodic Inspection (by HTT expert)

  • At least once a year (more often in heavy use/harsh conditions)

  • Certification provided with visible approval marking

3. Immediate Removal from Use
If there is any doubt, visible damage, or after an incident β†’ the sling must be taken out of use and inspected/rejected immediately.

What We Check During Inspection

  • Material condition: cuts, burns, chemical or UV damage, fiber deformation

  • Stitching (hoisting belts): worn or loose stitches, damage to end reinforcements

  • Protective cover (round slings): holes, cracks, inner core visibility = immediate rejection

  • Labels & markings: must be legible and intact (WLL, length, CE mark, manufacturer, production date/serial number)

  • Hardware (if applicable): hooks, rings, and eyelets must be free from rust, wear, or bending
