Containers & Frames
Container & Frame Inspections – Safety, Compliance, and Certification
Containers and offshore frames are critical for heavy transport and lifting operations. But without proper testing and certification, you risk safety hazards, failed audits, downtime, or non-compliance with international regulations.
At HTT, we provide comprehensive inspections, testing, and certification for new builds, in-service units, and custom-built frames—ensuring your equipment is always safe, legal, and ready for use.
1. New Build Type Testing
Before newly manufactured containers or offshore frames can be deployed, they must be tested and certified. HTT conducts full type tests according to international standards, including:
-
ISO 1496 (container structural testing)
-
DNV 2.7-1 (offshore lifting frames)
-
ISO 10855 (offshore container requirements)
What we check:
-
Structural rigidity & material strength
-
Visual & non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds and fittings
-
Lifting-eye load tests, corner fitting integrity
-
Drop- and stack-tests where required
Once approved, we issue a type certificate—allowing for fast, compliant rollout during series production.
2. In-Service Inspection & Maintenance
Containers and frames in use must undergo regular inspections to remain safe and legally compliant. HTT provides all required checks, including:
A) CSC (Convention for Safe Containers)
-
Mandatory for international transport
-
Initial certification, 30-month re-inspections, and 5-year renewals
B) Offshore In-Service Inspections (ISO 10855-3:2018)
-
Annual visual inspections of welds, corrosion, load-bearing components, doors, floors
-
NDT methods (Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Penetrant) for lifting eyes and critical welds
-
Load tests, especially after repairs or modifications
C) Onshore In-Service Inspections
-
For land-based containers and frames
-
Full compliance with national safety standards
💡 With mobile testing units, we can perform inspections at your location or in our Amsterdam workshop—saving you transport time and costs.
3. Custom Frame & Construction Testing
Not every structure fits the standard. HTT also inspects and certifies custom-built load-bearing structures, such as:
-
Base frames
-
Lifting beams (spreaders, bars)
-
Waste collection containers
We determine the relevant legal standards, then carry out tailored testing and certification to ensure safe and compliant operation.
