Rackings Inspection

The inspection of racking is an essential part of safety management within storage and distribution environments. The purpose of this inspection is to detect damage, wear, and unsafe situations early, thus minimizing the risk of collapse, injury, or damage to goods. Inspections must be carried out according to the European standard NEN-EN 15635, which specifies that racking should be checked at different levels.

Types of Inspections:

Daily visual inspection by users:

  • Check for visible damage (e.g., bent uprights or beams).
  • Check for obstacles, loose parts, or improperly placed goods.
  • Ensure that locking pins and safety clips are present.

Weekly or monthly inspection by an internally designated person:

  • Regular inspection of all racking locations using a checklist.
  • Record damage and implement minor repair actions.
  • Assess load capacity (check that the racking is not overloaded).
  • Verify proper placement of pallets and goods.

Annual expert inspection (according to EN 15635):

  • Conducted by an expert.
  • Thorough inspection of structural integrity, fixings, alignment, and stability.
  • Assessment of risk zones and creation of a report with recommended repairs.
